Getting Technical: What is 300 DPI? What is a Vector?
When it comes to print, what you see is not necessarily what you get. If your beautiful poster has come back from the printer fuzzy or pixelated, you know what we mean. Most traditional presses print at 300 dots per inch (dpi). The digital standard for camera capture is 72 pixels per inch—which roughly equates to a dot— and most screens are also 72 dpi. That means that the number of dots or pixels (image information) in your photo is probably more than four times too little for a traditional press at a larger print size.
